Now a day’s social media is playing a crucial role in everybody’s life. During lockdown/ curfew it helps a common man to remain updated, as people stop reading newspapers, to contact their friends, relatives and in many other ways. But criminals used this platform for all the wrong reasons.
SSP Patiala Mandeep Singh Sidhu said in a press conference that “especially during lockdown, Patiala police cyber cell department remained busy in keeping tab on social media activities of all the suspected inhabitants of district Patiala. This activity of Patiala police proved fruitful when they apprehended a criminal Harpreet Singh alias Happy a resident of Moti Mohalla, Patiala along with .32 bore gun with 5 live cartridges, one empty cartridge and one .315 local made gun with 2 cartridges , during a naka laid by a police party of Civil Lines Police station.”
He further disclosed that “in Patiala criminals has made two groups and Harpreet Singh alias Happy is a kingpin of one of the group and Harwinder Singh alias Joie is the ring leader of the other group ”
Further informing about the activities, Sidhu said “these two groups keep on fighting to make their supremacy over the other group. They used to display weapons, themselves with weapons on their social media accounts, to attract the youngsters.
Yesterday their activity on the social media, gave vital clues to Patiala police. Immediately SHO civil lines police station Rahul Kaushal and his team swooped into action and nabbed Harpreet Singh alias Happy as they are planning to strike their opponents’ said Sidhu
