To rescue the victims under the debris, the rescue operation will continue at Mohali (Sohana) Multistory Building Collapse site, said the officiating Deputy Commissioner Viraj S Tidke on Saturday night, who was monitoring the rescue operation personally on the site.
Divulging the details, the Officiating DC said that as soon as the incident was reported to the administration in the evening, he and other district officials rushed to the spot where the district police started the rescue operation with the help of locals and other departments. He said that the SSP Deepak Pareek was also among the first officers who arrived at the site and take initiative to ensure the immediate start of rescue efforts. Other district officers who were present included Commissioner MC Mohali, T Benith, ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Mohali Damandeep Kaur and local DSP Harsimran Singh Bal and other police and civil officers.
He said that the District Administration immediately sent the message to the National Disaster Response Force based at Pinjore and in addition intimation to the Western Command of the Army to augment the rescue operation with NDRF.
By now, a seriously injured female has been rescued from the debris and the NDRF and ARMY personnel have been working tirelessly to rescue the others trapped under the wreckage, said Viraj S Tidke by adding that anyone who apprehended missing his/her family member can dial district control room number 0172-2219506 to inform the district administration.
He said that all the major hospitals in the city like Civil Hospital (attached within Medical College), Fortis, Max and Sohana hospitals have been put on alert to cater the emergency services for the injured.
He said that the district administration has been putting all efforts to rescue every single person who has been trapped in the debris. The round-the-clock operation will continue till the rescue of all the people who are feared to be trapped here, he added.

Viraj said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has already word with the District Administration about the ongoing rescue works and he has directed us to make all possible efforts to rescue the victims.
Apart from that, Member of Parliament, Malvinder Singh Kang, and local MLA Kulwant Singh were also present at the site to oversee the rescue work.
Punjab DGP, Gaurav Yadav also took stock of the rescue work and directed the local police officers including DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and SSP Deepak Pareek to ensure the safety of the victims at all cost.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that the rescue work will continue till the safe return of all the victims and duty magistrates Tehsildar Arjun Singh Grewal and Navpreet Singh Shergill have been deputed to assist the rescue teams and local police.
