Special DGP gets officiating charge as Punjab’s DGP

Punjab govt has appointed IPS Sahota as the new DGP (additional charge) of Punjab police.
Present DGP Dinkar Gupta, a 1987-batch IPS officer, has applied for one-month leave.
As per sources the state government wants to give charge to the officer seen as the strongest probable for the list to be shortlisted by the UPSC which adopts points-based system after analysing service record and experience and Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota is amongst the hot contender for this coveted post.
