Special Expert Lecture on IPR Organized at IET Bhaddal Technical Campus

A special expert lecture on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was organized at IET Bhaddal Technical Campus under the joint efforts of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC).
The primary objective of this lecture was to spread awareness among students, faculty and researchers about the legal protection of innovations and the importance of IPR in today’s knowledge-based society. The keynote speaker for the session was Dr. Parampreet Singh, Assistant Professor, PG Department of Commerce and Management, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib. The program commenced with a welcome address by
Neha Mehandiratta, Coordinator of the Institution’s Innovation Council, who greeted the guest speaker, faculty members, staff, and students. In his address, Dr. Parampreet Singh explained that Intellectual Property Rights are legal rights granted to individuals or organizations for their intellectual and creative works. These works may include inventions, discoveries, writings, artwork, designs, logos, brand names and other original creations. These rights ensure the creator’s ownership and protect their work from unauthorized use.
He further elaborated on the meaning and registration process of various types of IPRs, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications, using simple language for better understanding. He motivated students to legally protect their ideas and innovations.
An interactive session followed, where students and staff actively participated by asking insightful questions to the speaker. At the end of the session, Bhawanpreet Kaur, Coordinator of IQAC, extended a vote of thanks to all the faculty, staff and students for their participation.
Dr. S.S. Bindra, Registrar-cum-Director of the campus, emphasized that such lectures serve as a source of inspiration for new inventions and elevate the standard of academic research. He appreciated Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Principal of the Engineering Institute, and the organizing team for successfully conducting this high-level academic session.
