A special meeting was convened under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prit Pal Singh to review various initiatives undertaken by the University during the recently concluded Shaheedi Sabha. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the book fair, student competitions, and other service-oriented activities organised by the University.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor stated that every year the University undertakes several significant initiatives to facilitate and support the large number of devotees visiting during the Shaheedi Sabha. These initiatives include a four-day book fair, student competitions, a free physiotherapy camp, systematic parking arrangements, medical facilities, turban-tying training, and NSS camps. Due to the University’s advance planning and efficient execution, these initiatives received an overwhelming response and were widely appreciated by the devotees.

The meeting also focused on further improving and expanding these services in the coming years in accordance with the needs of the devotees. In view of the encouraging response to the book fair and student competitions, and considering the growing public demand, it was decided that during the 2026 Shaheedi Sabha, the book fair would be extended from four days to five days. Similarly, in addition to school students, Gurmat-based competitions will also be organized for college and university students.

University Trust member Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni appreciated the University’s initiatives and emphasized the need to strengthen the culture of reading in Punjab by motivating students to read books alongside organizing book fairs.

Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, while thanking all staff members involved in the successful conduct of various activities, stated that serving the devotees is the moral responsibility of the University. He further stressed the importance of steering society away from destructive tendencies such as drug abuse and gang violence, and guiding it towards constructive literature and creative thinking.
