Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Organizes Successful Five-Day Skill Enhancement Workshop in Biotechnology

A five-day Skill Enhancement Workshop focused on advanced biotechnology techniques was successfully organized by the Department of Biotechnology at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. The program was conducted under the Centre for Scientific and Research Innovation to empower future scientists and promote scientific research. A total of 35 students from the departments of Biotechnology, Chemistry, Botany, and Environmental Sciences participated in the workshop. The main objective was to equip students with advanced technical skills and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industrial practices.

During the workshop, detailed sessions were held on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and its various applications. Special sessions on DNA visualization techniques were conducted, including hands-on demonstration of DNA band visualization. Lectures on culture techniques, staining methods, and antibiotic susceptibility testing were delivered, followed by practical hands-on training. Students were also familiarized with modern computational tools and biological data analysis in the field of Bioinformatics. On the final day, a review session was held to consolidate all the knowledge and skills gained during the workshop.

The workshop was led by Dr. Rupinder Kaur, and coordinated by Dr. Simranjot Kaur. It received appreciation from Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, and Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Tejbir Singh. Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head of the Department, expressed gratitude to the university administration and all participants. Such workshops were described as highly beneficial for encouraging scientific innovation, research thinking, and practical interest among students.
