SSP Patiala urge Singers,DJ’s not to glamorize drug culture
Patiala SSP S. Bhupati ,today met Punjabi Singers and DJ Players of Patiala at Police Lines to urge singers DJ’s to not to fan Punjabi pop music with guns, liquor, drugs, and lately gangsterism, culture.
He said Punjabi Music has a rich culture. He urge that youngsters are “easily fascinated” by weapons or drugs shown in songs “because they are unaware of the consequences”. He also opined, “Older people never get attracted because they know the results of this in anybody’s life.”
SSP Patiala S Bhupati met these singers, DJ’s as part of a campaign to save youth from moving towards illegal activities, under the direction from Punjab DGP. Recently the Punajb DGP has directed all district SSPs to meet singers living in their areas and appeal about avoiding singing objectionable lyrics. The police in Punjab are seeking to pull the plug now, by talking to singers.
Noted Punjab folk singer Pammi Bai and Punjabi singer Ammy Virk along with SP D Harvinder Singh Virk, SP City Kesar Singh, SHO’s of Police Stations also attended the meeting, called by SSP Patiala.
SSP Patiala Bhupati said that everybody gave a “very good response”. He added, “Basically, our motive is to urge singers not to promote gangster culture, because they are followed by the youth and thus have social responsibility.”
