Sukhbir Badal encourages players participating in Women National Kabaddi Championship

Member of Parliament and Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal visited Lamrin Tech Skills University to encourage the players participating in the 70th Women Senior National Kabaddi Championship.

Badal appreciated the governance model of the skill university for being the first of its kind incubated by industry and commended the efforts of university for hosting such a significant event for promoting and supporting women sports. He expressed that such an institution was dream of late Parkash Singh Badal.

He expressed proud about Kabaddi being the most popular game amongst Punjabis nationally and globally. He emphasised upon the need for a greater focus on Kabaddi as per national standards, increased budget allocation, sports infrastructure development and professional coaching in Punjab.

Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura; Chancellor Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab and Advisor National Skill Development Corporation; Govt of India stated that the championship would set a new platform for youth in sports, aligning with the university’s standards in skills and technical education. Dr. Kaura felt nostalgic citing that Parkash Singh Badal was the visionary who brought him to the skill development. He expressed satisfaction with the championship’s progress and emphasized the university’s commitment to the all-round development of students.

Sikander Singh Malooka, President Punjab Kabaddi Association expressed his happiness regarding the progress of the event and shared that during the first day of the championship, 14 matches were held in university campus in an environment fully charged by the enthusiasts.

Sukhbir Badal encourages players participating in Women National Kabaddi Championship. The prominent personalities present on the second day included Tikshan Sood, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Sikander Singh Maluka, Tejinder Singh Middukhera, A.S. Malhi and a large contingent from the Punjab Kabaddi Association.

The Chancellor affirmed the university’s willingness to host events promoting sports in Punjab and highlighted the university’s achievements in various fields over the past two years. The hosting of the 70th National Women Kabaddi Championship reflects the proactive approach of the university in fostering sports amongst youth.
