Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. SGPC President and University Chancellor Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar today gave the appointment letter to Dr. Khehra and formally appointed him as the Vice Chancellor of the University. Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra has a vast academic and administrative experience of over 39 years under his belt. During his high profile career he has held coveted positions like Dean Academic Affairs and Registrar of Punjabi University, Patiala. He has also worked in the capacity of Director Planning and Monitoring, Dean Students Welfare and Provost at Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr. Khehra has also headed the Department of Law and Punjab School of Law at Punjabi University, Patiala. He also remained Dean, Faculty of law at Punjabi University. During the course of his long and illustrious career he has published numerous research papers and articles in journals of international repute. He has also been instrumental in guiding research scholars for their LL.M and Ph.D degrees. Presently, Dr. Khehra had been working in capacity of officiating Vice Chancellor and Dean Academic Affairs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University as well as heading the University School of Law.
Dr. S.S. Khehra, thanked SGPC president Prof. Badungar and University trust members for reposing their faith in him. He said the he will perform to the best of his abilities to take the University to even greater heights of excellence. He added that running and managing a University is not a single man’s job but a collective effort of all the employees of the institution. He hoped for the collective effort and co-operation from all quarters of the University. Dr. Khehra said that concerted efforts will be made to make the rules and regulations of the University even more students friendly. The University faculty will be provided a congenial atmosphere and full academic freedom in their teaching and research endeavours. He said transparency and accountability would be ensured in administration.
SGPC President and University Chancellor, Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar congratulated the newly appointed Vice Chancellor and gave him his blessings. He said that it is a moment of great pride for the University that such a distinguished man has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor. Prof. Badungar said that he was optimistic that Dr. Khehra will take the University towards greater heights of excellence. Throwing some light on the selection process, the SGPC President said that the selection committee comprising of trustees R.S. Maan, Darbara Singh Guru, Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Bibi Paramjeet Kaur Landran and Justice Nirmal Singh had received numerous applications for the post. After multiple rounds of rigorous screening the committee zeroed in on Dr. Khehra. The SGPC President said that members of the search committee deserved to be congratulated for selecting an eminent academician for the coveted post.
