Today, an alert Sunam police able to arrest fraudsters before they do a new fraud. The Sangrur police has arrested two members of an inter-state gang who robbed people by changing ATM cards at ATM booths and later used that ATM for withdrawing money and shopping online.
Two members of an inter-state gang who robbed people by exchanging ATM cards and shopping online at ATM booths were arrested by Sunam Police Station before committing the crime, with the help of Cyber Cell, Sangrur. Sangrur Police has succeeded in nabbing this gang which has so far carried out more than 70 incidents in different cities of Punjab and Haryana.
Police has arrested Amandeep, a resident of Kapro Police Station, Kheri Chowki, Tehsil Narnod, District Hisar (Haryana) and Rajbir alias Pappu, a resident of MDN School, Kalait Police Station, Kaithal, Haryana. Police are searching for his accomplice Sunil, a resident of Sorki Police Station, Bass Hall, Government Hospital, Sector Hisar, and Amardas, a resident of Barwala, District Haryana.
Police has also recovered 58 ATM cards, cash of Rs 23,600 and an I-20 car with fake number plates from them. The gang member used to talk with persons who are unable to use ATM card, inside the booths. They take their ATM cards in the name of helping people to withdraw cash. In the meantime the hand over the a fake ATM after the withdrawal done by the person.

SSP sangrur Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that the police have reorganized the Cyber Cell Sangrur, the responsibility of which has been given to SI Amandeep Kaur and Kamaljit Kaur. The cyber cell has cracked down on the gang using state-of-the-art methods to deal with the complaints of ATM card fraudsters.
During interrogation, the fraudsters has admitted that he had committed more than 70 incidents so far in several districts of Haryana including Sunam, Lehra, Dhari, Malerkotla, Ludhiana, Raikot, Patiala, Mohali, Mansa, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Amritsar. Incidents have also taken place in Rajpura and Patiala in recent days.
The fraudsters had reached Sunam in a vehicle on Saturday and were looking for his target to carry out the incident here. But Sunam Police arrested him, before any new incident would have happened. Police said that fake number plates were found on the car recovered from the accused to carry out the incident.
