In a bid to improve its Swachh Bharat ranking, the MC Patiala has instructed its staff to help popularise the Swachhata-MoHUA app which is developed by Ministary of Housing and Urban Affairs and ensure that more citizens download it.
The MC Patiala had ranked 411 in the 2016 Swachh Survekshan. One of the reasons cited was a paucity of citizen feedback. The MC Patiala has now asked all its senior officials to get more people to download the app and lodge complaints – something that officials are dreading.
The Swachh Survekshan assigns points for the usage of the Swachhata- MoHUA app by citizens . “We have set everything else aside and are completely focussed on the Swachh Bharat Survekshan. Our staff is reaching out to maximum people to encourage downloads.” Said Programme Coordinator, Amandeep Sekhon
“We first want our own officials to become agents of change, of cleanliness. Officials are bound to resolve citizens’ complaints within 24 hours once the complaint is registered. All civic officials have been directed to download and promote the app, as well as report garbage nuisances in the city.
The Swachhata-Mohua App can be downloaded very easily from Google Play Store on Android phones and from App Store on Iphones. Then user has to fill OTP and select location. While posting complaints the user can take the picture of garbage, write comments and give the feedack also.
Civic officials claim that increased citizen feedback will improve the civic body’s ranking.
