On May 20, 2025 (Tuesday), the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) organized a tree plantation drive as part of its annual Swachhata Pakhwada, which is being observed from May 16 to May 31, 2025. This campaign was conducted simultaneously at various BBMB project sites, with a strong emphasis on environmental conservation and community participation.

As part of this initiative, tree plantations were also carried out in BBMB’s residential colonies located in Sector 35-B and 36-B of Chandigarh. On this special occasion, BBMB Chairman Manoj Tripathi was present and planted several saplings along with the children of the colony. He addressed the children in simple and inspiring words about the importance of trees. He explained that trees not only provide oxygen but also play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, preventing soil erosion, regulating temperature, and preserving biodiversity.

Tripathi encouraged the children not to consider their responsibility fulfilled just by planting a sapling. Instead, he inspired them to take continuous care of the plants so that they grow into strong, lush green trees that contribute positively to the environment in the years to come.
