“Rupnagar police has booked Paramjit, a resident of Ludhaina who was on Monday arrested for allegedly smoking at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib under section 18 of UAPA act, (Whoever conspires or attempts to commit, or advocates, abets, advises or incites or knowingly facilitates the commission of, a terrorist act or any act preparatory to the commission of a terrorist act ), section 153 A (offence of promoting disharmony, enmity or feelings of hatred between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) , 436 (whoever commits mischief by fire or any explosive substance, intending to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause, the destruction of any building which is ordinarily used as a place of worship or as a human dwelling or as a place for the custody of property) , 511 (a makes an attempt to steal some jewels by breaking open a box, and finds after so opening the box, that there is no jewel in it) of IPC” said SP (Investigation) Ajinder Singh.
SGPC appointed acting Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, said in a video message that the culprit has deep links with Dera Sauda Sirsa and its’ jailed chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim. He said the culprit is son of a member of central committee of Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS) and he, himself, is a staunch supporter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim who is undergoing imprisonment for life in rape and murder cases.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee security guards deployed on the spot overpowered Paramjit and handed him over to the local police.
SGPC security guard said that it was around 4.30 am when Paramjit Singh after taking a puff threw his cigarette behind the ragis sitting in darbar sahib and blew the smoke towards them.

The accused was arrested on the same day, after registering a case under Section 295-A of the IPC (whoever destroys, damages or defiles any place of worship, or any object held sacred by any class of persons with the intention of thereby insulting the religion of any class of persons or with the knowledge that any class of persons is likely to consider such destruction, damage or defilement as an insult against him).
