Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and gaiety in Bathinda at Multipurpose Sports Stadium where health and family welfare minister Punjab, Brahm Mohindra, unfurled the national flag. Various contingents of Punjab Police, Scout Guides and NCC participated in the march past in the function.
Brahm Mohindra also acclaimed the sacrifice of martyrs of freedom struggle and said that the peace and prosperity of the country was achieved only due to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He added that the contribution of people of Punjab was the highest among all other states across the nation in the freedom struggle.
He said that Punjab government has been continuously working for the development of the state and welfare of common residents. He also announced the construction of a new Ring Road in Bathinda city to resolve the traffic problem which would connect National Highway with Bathinda-Mansa state highway.
TB (Tuberculosis) will be eradicated from the state till 2022 said Brahm Mohindra and Government have already decided to provide free treatment of TB in government health institutions.
He further said that the Government has started a special programme under the name of ‘Kaya Kalap Programme’. Two health centers of Bathinda district have also been awarded under this scheme. CHC Goniana has been awarded with Rs One Lakh and Urban Primary Health Centre-Basti Lal Singh with Rs Two Lakh on the state level.
Mohindra said that Advanced Cancer Institute situated on Mansa-Bathinda road was proving beneficial for the Cancer patients with the high-level treatment of the ailment being offered here. He said that a special outreach clinic for kids has also been established at the Institute.
He said that to prevent girls from cervix cancer, HPV Vaccination Programme has also been started by the government and all the girl students of class VI of government, government-aided and private schools of the Bathinda district have been administrated the vaccine. He said that the vaccine is available in the market for Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500, but the government administered it free of cost.
Mohindra also launched a ‘Kheti Suvidha App’ for android mobiles which was especially designed by Bathinda district administration which could prove beneficial for farmers as it would provide information about latest trends and techniques in agriculture secto,make the farmers aware of the agricultural implements available for rent in the district.
Mohindra also announced an award of Rs. 4 lakh, 10,000 for each school, for 40 schools participating in the Republic Day function. As many as 3,000 students of various schools have also participated in the Republic Day celebration at Bathinda.
MLA Rampura Phul ,Gurpreet Singh Kangar, MLA Bhucho Pritam Singh Kotbhai, MLA Maur Jagdev Singh Kamalu, Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Diparva Lakra, ADC Dr. Shena Aggarwal, SDM Bathinda Sakshi Sawhney, IG Mukhwinder Singh Chhina, SSP Naveen Singla and various other judicial, administrative and police officials were also present during the function.
