Testing of steel bridge built on Sirhind Canal begins from one side, formal inauguration will be held soon: DC

Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Himanshu Jain informed that testing has been started from one side of the steel bridge built on Sirhind Canal and a limited number of vehicles have been passing through the bridge.
He said that its formal inauguration will also be done soon and after its testing is completed, the movement of vehicles will be allowed from both the roads on both sides.
Deputy Commissioner said that with the operation of this four-lane bridge, not only dozens of villagers and the Doaba area including Nurpur Bedi area will get great relief, but also the traffic in the city will improve.

He said that the construction of this 135-meter long 4-lane steel bridge will reduce traffic and will also make it easier for people going from Chandigarh to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district.
He informed that the bridge’s footpath -1.5 meters, high tension steel strands, number of hangers 72 in each span, modular strip seal expansion joint etc. have been assessed for road safety by experts from prestigious institutions and universities of Punjab.
