The District Credit Plan for 2024-25 Released by DC Patiala

The District Credit Plan for the financial Year 2024-5 was today released by Sowkat Ahmad Parray, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Patiala in SBI Administrative Office building situated at Sheranwala Gate, Patiala. The DC also visited the heritage gallery of SBI where the articles of historic importance have been kept by the Bank as its legacy and heritage.
Parray, said that District Credit Plan from Lead Bank Office for the year 2024-25 is being published, showcasing the Annual Plans based on the potential of Patiala District. He further told that genesis of the Lead Bank Scheme (LBS) can be traced to the Study Group headed by Prof. D. R. Gadgil (Gadgil Study Group) on the Organizational Framework for the Implementation of the Social Objectives, which submitted its report in October 1969. The Study Group drew attention to the fact that commercial banks did not have adequate presence in rural areas and also lacked the required rural orientation. The Study Group, therefore, recommended the adoption of an ‘Area Approach’ to evolve plans and programmes for the development of an adequate banking and credit structure in the rural areas.
Parray also said that he is sanguine that the all the Banks of Patiala District will achieve their allocated targets under Agriculture and allied activities, Priority Sector, Implementation of Govt Schemes, infrastructure lending and other activities for development of Patiala District. He placed on record his appreciation for the efforts made by the Lead Bank Office and its entire staff for their excellent role in deriving this Annual District Credit Plan for the FY 2024-25.
The Regional Manager of SBI Praveen Prasad welcomed DC Patiala to the SBI building and assured full cooperation to the District Administration in implementation of Govt Schemes through bBank.
