Once again ‘The Patiala Club’ popularly known as Officers Club situated in lush green Baradari Gardens has come into limelight, for floting health safety norms. This time the district administration managed club found serving stale foods to its members, guests.

In a recent incident, a local resident Gagandeep Singh Ahuja along with his family went to ‘The Patiala Club’ on Sunday, June 8,2025 to had a dinner.

To an utter surprise, the club catering served stale non-vegetarian items to the family. The family didn’t eat the chilli-chicken served by the club and asked the staff members what they had served? To club staff admitted the eating stuff is not consumable.

Today, Gagandeep Singh Ahuja has given a written complaint to Dr Rachna , assistant civil surgeon, Patiala and asked her to thoroughly investigate the food quality being served to the members, guests.

Dr Rachna , assistant civil surgeon, Patiala said “ I have received the complaint. I will thoroughly investigate the matter and will take suitable action against the culprits. “ She further added “though the club is running under the district administration’s command but I’ll not spare who so ever is involved in this fiasco.”

As per available information, there is no Kitchen contractor at ‘The Patiala Club’ from the last 5-6 months.

When contacted the caretaker of the club he said “ the contract of the kitchen has not finalized. As a stop gap arrangement local restaurant Street Club is managing the kitchen, catering service of the club.  “

The club was a brainchild, dream project of former deputy commissioner of Patiala, Varun Roojam, IAS. The Club was inaugurated on January 27, 2016 by the than Divisional Commissioner of Patiala Division Ajeet Singh Pannu in the presence of then deputy commissioner Varun Roojam, IAS.
