Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Wednesday administers oath of office and secrecy to Satish Chandra, IAS (Retd.) as Chairperson of Punjab Police Complaint Authority in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at Punjab Raj Bhavan.

As per available information, Punjab government had appointed retired IAS officer and former Home Secretary Satish Chandra as chairperson of Punjab Police Complaint Authority (PCA), during Capt Amarinder Singh tenure, in September 2021.

His oath taking ceremony has left in abeyance as Navjot Singh Sidhu topples Capt Amarinder Singh led government. Later Charanjit Singh Channi became the chief minister of the state and he remained busy in other activities. Congress ignored, over ruled the decision taken by Capt Amarinder Singh.

When contacted the newly appointed Chairperson of Punjab Police Complaint Authority Satish Chandra, he said “ due to covid restrictions at that time, I had taken the written oath. Today, I took the oath in person, after the Governor asked me to do so.”

Chandra had retired as Home Secretary in September 2020 and had been awaiting a post-retiral “adjustment”. He was among the frontrunners for the post of chairperson of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission, a job that eventually went to Viswajeet Khanna, another close confidant of Capt Amarinder Singh.
