Timely action averts major mishap at Punjabi University campus

On a pleasant Saturday morning, a fire broke out in the nursery area of the Punjabi University campus in Patiala and spread rapidly due to strong winds. Within minutes, the flames engulfed parts of the nursery area, prompting the university authorities to immediately alert the fire brigade.
The Punjab Government Meritorious School, located just a stone’s throw away from the site of the fire, also raised concerns as the blaze intensified.
Acting swiftly, the fire brigade reached the spot without delay and successfully doused the flames, preventing any major damage or casualties.
When contacted, Sanjeev, Junior Engineer at Punjabi University, said, “It was a minor fire caused by the ongoing heat wave. The fire is suspected to have started due to dry leaves accumulated in the nursery area amid strong winds. The dry vegetation caught fire quickly, but the situation was brought under control in time. No major loss was reported.”
