To inculcate confidence CSE department of Punjabi University organized sports event

Punjabi University is a centre of excellence that aims for all-round development of its students. Under the able guidance of Vice-chancellor Prof. Arvind, university is sparing no effort in preparing its students for a bright future after the turbulent time of Covid pandemic. In addition to physical and mental fitness, sports inculcate leadership, sportsmanship and confidence students and enable them to face life’s challenges bravely. In this direction, a two day sports event was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University on 15-16 March. The event comprised various outdoor and indoor games such as volleyball, cricket, badminton football, carrom, chess, board games, treasure hunt etc. The event saw an active and enthusiastic participation of students. Faculty members of the department also participated in some of the sports activities.
Prof. AK Tiwari, Dean Research and Dr. Regina Maini, Chief Medical Officer presided over the valedictory ceremony. Prof. Tiwari congratulated the department and students on a successful sports event. He said that in current times sports play an equally important role as curriculum and in order to truly excel in life students need to work hard in both areas. He applauded the department’s efforts in providing excellent opportunities to the students for the same.

Dr. Regina advised the students to develop an active lifestyle in order to overcome the negative mental and physical effects of the pandemic. She added that every student must include some kind of sports in his/her routine in order to have an all-round development.
Head of the department, Dr. Raman Maini congratulated all the winners and participants saying that sports and sportsmanship is a vital part of a successful and fulfilling life. He added that sports events are a part of training the students to face the competitive recruitment process after the completion of the degree and department’s sports club has been successfully working in this direction under the able leadership of Dr. Gaurav Gupta and Dr. Williamjit Singh. Dr. Gupta and Dr. Singh acknowledged the contribution of students and department in the success of the event and thanked all present at the valedictory ceremony.
