In line with the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), Punjab’s largest thermal power plant, has adopted 50 tuberculosis-affected patients as their Nikshay Mitra, committing to six months of sustained nutritional support. The initiative, launched at the Civil Hospital, Mansa, reinforces TSPL’s commitment to strengthening community health and supporting the Government of India’s mission to eliminate TB.
Under the nation’s flagship TB elimination programme, Nikshay Mitra is a community support initiative that encourages corporates, individuals and institutions to provide nutritional, diagnostic and treatment related support to TB patients.
Mansa currently has 520 TB patients, and the Civil Hospital has identified 50 individuals who require priority nutritional support to strengthen their recovery. TSPL, under its CSR initiative SEHAT with the slogan ‘TB Hatao, Desh Bachao’, is supporting these high-need patients with monthly nutrition kits comprising protein-rich pulses, legumes, soya-based supplements and essential cooking oil to boost calorie and protein intake. The support will continue for six consecutive months.

Corporate participation remains crucial in bridging treatment and nutritional gaps, and TSPL’s contribution as a Nikshay Mitra truly amplifies our strength. Their commitment will ensure that every patient receives the nutritional care they need during recovery, helping them mend, regain health and rebuild their lives with dignity.”

TSPL will work closely with the District Health Department to monitor the health progress of all 50 patients through the six-month support period.
Commenting on the initiative, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, CEO – Power, Vedanta Limited, said, “Vedanta Power is strongly aligned with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a TB-free India. Tackling tuberculosis requires unified action by governments, healthcare institutions, corporates and communities working together. By providing six months of nutritional support to these 50 patients, we aim to improve treatment outcomes and help them return to healthier, stronger lives.”
Following the TB support initiative, TSPL continued to expand its healthcare outreach in the region by organizing a Mega Health Camp in association with the PHD Rural Development Foundation at Village Chainewala, Mansa.
