Two day Chrysanthemum Show begins

C Sibin,Punjab Horticulture department secretary-cum-director inaugurated a two day annual district level Chrysanthemum Show at Patiala’s Baradrai Garden. Swaran Singh Mann, deputy director of the horticulture department was also present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, Sibin said that state government was making all sincere efforts in bringing crop diversification by promoting horticulture among farmers.Crop diversification is the need of the hour. He further informed that the state government is going to organize a national Kinnow festival at Abohar in January to promote its cultivation in southern districts of Punjab.

Two day Chrysanthemum Show begins

Swaran Singh Mann, deputy director of the horticulture department said that more than 100 varieties of Chrysanthemum were displayed in this show. The aim of the show is to spread awareness among people about flowers and their role in making the environment beautiful and clean. These shows are open to public. “The department is organizing these shows to promote floriculture and horticulture with such programmes”, he said. He further informed that the horticulture department is organizing such event at sub-division level as well, so that the message goes to every nook and the corner of the state.

Where as Guru Nanak Dev University is hosting third flower and plants show along with rangoli and seminar from December 18 to 20 around Shri Guru Granth Sahib Bhawan building of the University. This event is dedicated to the renowned poet literary Bhai veer Singh.
