Two Day Patiala District Chess Championship concluded
Patiala: Patiala District Chess championship 2018 separate for Boys and Girls (Under-9, Under-13, Under-17 and Under-25) concluded here at DAV Public School, Patiala. Chief Guest Vivek Tiwari, Principal awarded cash prizes and trophies to the First Three Position holders in each age group. He congratulated the winners and said that more and more students should take part in games like Chess.
Rajeev Raheja, Organising Secretary of the tournament informed that the final results were as follows:
Boys (Under-9): First: Sanchit Singla, Second: Prabhnoor Singh, Third: Anshiv Raj
Boys (Under-13): First: Harshit Dhingra, Second: Hardik Gupta, Third: Deepit Gupta Consolation Prize: Prabhjeet Singh
Boys (Under-17): First: Shobhit Dhingra, Second: Khushant, Third: Nikhil Chahal
Boys (Under-25): First: Shridham, Second: Yash Jain, Third: Mudit
Girls (Under-13): First: Mandeep Kaur, Second: Jhanvi, Third: Sargampreet Kaur
Girls (Under-25): First: Deepanshi Sharma, Second: Bhavna, Third: Lisha Bajaj
The prize for Junior-most player of the tournament was awarded to Aaradhya.
These top players from each age group will represent Patiala District in Punjab State Chess Championship.
Dr. Ramesh Sharma, Harchan Singh, Gobind Kathuria, Rakesh Garg,Rajeev Raheja, Dr. Doordarshi Singh and Vinod Sharma (from Modi College, Patiala) played vital role in successfully organizing this Championship. A renowned chess player Vinod Sharma from Moga officiated as Chief Arbitrator of the tournament. Dr. Doordarshi Singh conducted the stage.
At the end of the programme, Dr. Ramesh Sharma, President, Patiala District Chess Association thanked the Principal, participating players and their parents.
