Under the dynamic leadership of worthy Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala,Prof (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) Punjabi University, Patiala started an 8-day On-Line Programme on National Education Programme (NEP): Orientation and Sensitization.
Director MMTTC Prof. (Dr.)Raman Maini welcomes the chief guest of the day Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Vice Chancellor (Additional Charge) Punjabi University, Patiala,and the Guest of Honour Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Registrar, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala,Course Coordinators and all the participants.
Dr. Maini expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, for his continuous support to all the Courses organised by UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University Patiala. He thanked Course Coordinators Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Professor and Dean, Faculty of Education and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala and Course Co-Coordinator Dr Jagpreet Kaur, Department of Education & Community, Punjabi University, Patiala for their efforts in inviting Internationally renowned resource persons for the NEP Orientation & Sensitization Program.
Prof (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh sent a message for inaugural session and said that the purpose of this orientation programme is to prepare teachers for academic excellence, effective professional performance and active engagement in the task of national reconstruction and to popularize National Education Policy. Professor Karamjeet Said the National Education Policy 2020, introduced by the Government of India, is a landmark reform—the first education policy of the 21st century and the first in over three decades. It aims to create a holistic, flexible, multidisciplinary education system rooted in Indian values while aligned with global standards.
Guest of Honour, Dr Baljeet Singh Khera, Professor and Registrar Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University Patiala said that One of the most transformative aspects of the NEP is its emphasis on flexibility and choice. The policy moves away from rigid streams and allows students to select subjects across disciplines. This opens doors for creativity, innovation, and truly personalized learning paths. It promotes multidisciplinary education, enabling students to blend arts with sciences, and vocational subjects with academics.
