UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University successfully concludes “Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme (On-line)”

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Punjabi University, Patiala, proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme. This comprehensive four-week online FIP Programme held from Jan 07 to Feb10, 2026 was organized in alignment with UGC-MHRD guidelines. Faculty from diverse states and prestigious universities across India participated in this enriching course, which focused on equipping participants with advanced knowledge and skills.

During the Valedictory Session of the Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme, it was highlighted that the programme was thoughtfully designed to strengthen participants faculty competencies in teaching, research, academic leadership, and ethical practices in higher education.  Throughout the course, participants actively engaged with diverse perspectives on research design, qualitative and quantitative methods, data analysis,academic leadership, interdisciplinary approaches, and ethical issues in research.The Faculty Induction Programme underscored the significance of methodological rigor, critical inquiry, and ethical responsibility in improving the quality, credibility, and societal relevance of academic research. Special emphasis was placed on emerging research trends, innovative methodologies, and the effective integration of digital tools and resources in scholarly work. Furthermore, the programme promoted reflective and evidence-based academic practices, enabling participants to critically evaluate their research processes and outcomes, thereby strengthening their overall research competence.

During the Valedictory Session, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director, MMTTC, and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala, extended a warm and cordial welcome to the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor,I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, the Course Coordinator of the Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Professor, Department Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala and the Co-coordinator Dr. Dhandeep Singh, Associate Professor, Department Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala and all the participants of the programme.

Delivering the valedictory address, Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini expressed his deep gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, stating that his inspiring leadership, academic vision and continuous encouragement have been the driving force behind the sustained growth and diverse academic initiatives of the UGC–Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre. He also thanked the Vice Chancellor for his gracious presence, unwavering support, and guidance in promoting excellence in teacher training and professional development. Dr. Maini further conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Chief Guest,Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandharfor his progressive outlook, dynamic vision, and significant contributions to higher education. He acknowledged Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittalcommitment to academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly in fostering innovative and learner-centric academic ecosystems.

The presidential remarks by  Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, in his message on the occasion of the completion of these Courses, highlighted that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction to witness the successful culmination of these academic programmes organized by MMTTC, Punjabi University, Patiala. He noted that these courses have not only provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement but have also fostered a spirit of collaboration and academic curiosity among the participants. He congratulated all the faculty members, resource persons, and participants whose dedication and enthusiasm made the course a meaningful and enriching experience. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and professional development through such initiatives, in alignment with the goals of the National Education Policy.The Vice-Chancellor remarked that a good listener earns both knowledge and respect, as listening with attention is the first step towards meaningful learning and leadership. He extended his best wishes to all participants for continued success in their academic and professional pursuits.

The session continued with an inspiring and thought-provoking address by the Chief Guest,Prof. (Dr.) Susheel Mittal, Vice Chancellor, I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Prof. Mittal underscored the importance of the program, describing it as an exceptional platform for faculty members from diverse institutions across India to collaborate, share ideas, and learn collectively. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated that being a good listener is one of the most valuable qualities of a true learner and leader, as it reflects patience, respect, and a genuine willingness to understand other’s perspectives. Encouraging the participants to “Expand Their Horizons”. Highlighting the transformative role of technology and research. He also expressed appreciation for Dr. Raman Maini, acknowledging his unwavering commitment and hard work in ensuring the programme success.

Participants shared their feedback, reflecting on the transformative experience of the course, adding a joyful and dynamic conclusion to the event.

Dr. Nirmal Singhand Dr. Dhandeep Singh, Department Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala, Course Coordinators, expressed immense pride in the participants enthusiasm and dedication and said that it has been a truly fulfilling experience watching such vibrant minds engage, collaborate, and grow together through this course. As we come to the close of this enriching course, it gives great pleasure to reflect on the journey, shared over the past week. Sincere gratitude also goes to the organizing team, technical staff, and support personnel, without whom this course wouldn’t have run so smoothly.Dr. Nirmal commended their eagerness to engage deeply with FIP theme, share knowledge, and collaboratively address pressing scientific questions. Dr. Dhandeep emphasized that the knowledge and skills acquired during the program would enable participants to implement innovative teaching techniques. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the resource persons for their expert guidance, which significantly contributed to the success of the FIP. He also proposed a vote of thanks

During the closing remarks, Dr Maini extended heartfelt praise and gratitude to the dedicated staff members Dr. Mandeep Singh (Technical Officer-II),  Dyal Dutt,  Surinder Singh,  Kanta Rani,  Mahaveer Singh and Surinder Kumar highlighting their exemplary organizational skills and crucial contributions in the online and offline Courses.
