Upcoming local bodies’elections should not be organized in Punjab-Mohindru

In the past, the Punjab election commission failed to conduct free and fair local bodies elections. It has been observed that local bodies’ elections especially in Patiala have disturbed the peace & harmony in the royal city. There were allegations of booth capturing by the opposition parties against the ruling parties during previous local bodies’ elections.
Prof Pankaj Mohindru, President Human Rights Care Organization appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab to look into this matter urgently to assure free and fair elections of local bodies.There should be a provision for nomination in local bodies and elections should not be organized at the cost of the law and order in the four main corporations in the state of Punjab.
