Patiala police recover huge quantity of poppy husk; two held

“CIA Samana has recovered a huge quantity of poppy husk” said senior superintendent of Patiala (SSP) , Patiala Varun Sharma in a press conference.
Sharma said that a crackdown on drug peddlers was launched by Punjab Police and a team of CIA Samana incharge sub inspector Manpreet Singh along with Harbir Singh Atwal, superintendent of police (investigation), Sukhamrit Singh Randhawa, DSP (investigation) has arrested Rajinder Kumar alias Rinku and Fakir Chand alias Soni, residents of Samana in a drug smuggling case. They are booked under section 15/61/85/ of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for carrying 450 kg of poppy husk on November 23,2023.
According to police officials, the police had received a tip-off that some smugglers are going to enter the district in a truck carrying drugs. During the search of a truck, the police found huge quantity of poppy husk. The duo are arrested as they are transporting huge quantity of drug in a truck number PB 11CY 1830 from Madhya Pradesh and are planning to sell the drugs in Punjab.
Sharma added that the duo have no criminal cases pending against them and further interrogation is on to nab others involved in this racket of drug peddlers.
