Uttrakhand power employees protest transfer of projects land

All the engineers and employees of three corporations under the banner of Uttrakhand Vidhyut Adhikari Karmchari joint struggle front today held a protest meeting at the head office of Uttrakhand Power Corporation at Dehradun in support of their 19 point demand charter.The main demand is opposition to transfer of surplus land available with hydro projects.
Y S Tomar President of joint struggle front said that the meeting expressed strong opposition to the decision of the Government of Uttarakhand to transfer 76.73 hectares of land belonging to hydel power projects of Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited at Dakpathar and Dhalipur through the Uttarakhand Infrastructure and Industrial Development Board for allocation to the private sector.
Kartikey Dubey and other speakers including employees leaders warned that diversion of land meant for strategic hydel projects will seriously affect the development of important national projects such as Lakhwar, Kishau and other Yamuna basin hydel projects and will be strongly resisted. The next part of agitation will be next month in April.
