Vigilance bureau arrested BDPO for accepting Rs. 4500/- as bribe

Patiala Vigilance Bureau today nabbed a Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) red handed while accepting bribe.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) Patran (in Patiala district) Sanjeev Kumar nabbed red handed on the complaint of Samsher Singh Lottee son of Lakshman Singh Lottee working as Panchayat officer Patran, in the office of Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) Patran since August 2018 and working under Sanjeev Kumar.
As per the complainant, BDPO Patran Sanjeev Kumar is demanding Rs 5000/- as monthly bribe. In addition he also demands bribe to sign official documents of regular basis. The complainant had paid Rs 2000/- as part payment of this month monthly to BDPO Sanjeev Kumar on December 10, 2019 and demanded Rs 2000/- extra to clear his family medical bill.
The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused BDPO was demanding money. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team from Patiala led by Inspctor Prithpal Singh arrested BDPO Patran Sanjeev Kumar on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 4500/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses namely Veerpal kaur Joura from Fisheries department and Tarsem Lal clerk from Fisheries department.
“Vigilance bureau arrested BDPO for accepting Rs. 4500/- as bribe and a case number 22 dated December 13, 2019 under section 7 PC Act 1988 (amendment-2018) have been registered at Vigilance Bureau Police Station Patiala and further investigations were under progress” said vigilance official.
