Vocal AAP MLA arrested by Punjab police

Punjab Police have arrested Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Sanour, Patiala Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, who had been evading authorities for over six months in connection with a rape case.
As per reports, absconding MLA Pathanmajra was arrested from Gwalior by Patiala police.
Pathanmajra, who had been declared a proclaimed offender by a Patiala court, faces serious charges including rape, cheating, and criminal intimidation. An FIR had been registered against him, and he had been absconding since September 2, 2025. Authorities had also issued a lookout notice during the investigation.
According to officials, Pathanmajra allegedly committed the offences before going into hiding, prompting the court to declare him a proclaimed offender. Following sustained efforts and with the help of the lookout notice, Patiala police were able to trace and arrest him.
A police official confirmed that the accused has been taken into custody and will be produced before a court.
Pathanmajra raised his voice against the state government, irrigation principal secretary Krishan Kumar after last year floods in the state.
He is the second Punjab MLA arrested in two days. MLA and former transport minister Laljit Bhullar was arrested on Monday in an abetment to suicide case from Mandigobindgarh
