Will BJP play a Sikh card for Vice President of India’s role?

As per available information BJP is considering to field a Sikh face- Capt Amarinder Singh, former chief minister of Punjab as NDAs vice president of India’s candidate.
Earlier, the saffron party has fielded Draupadi Murmu belonging to a scheduled tribe, as a candidate to the post of President of India.
The saffron party is considering this, keeping 2024 elections in mind.
As per sources, Capt Amarinder Singh is formally going to merge his political party-Punjab Lok Congress with BJP, which he launched just around six months ago.
royalpatiala.in had already highlighted this news on January 20,2022 that “Capt Amarinder Singh is eyeing for vice president of India post as M. Venkaiah Naidu’s term will end in mid 2022 as he took the oath as vice president of India and the chairman of Rajya Sabha on 11 August 2017.
“It seems, BJP is going to reward Capt Amarinder Singh for his role in establishing BJP in interior Punjab and help the saffron party to get prominent Sikh faces, leaders in their fold. It’s an open secret that Capt Amarinder Singh got leaders like Rana Gurmit Sodhi, Fateh jang Bajwa, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Raj Kumar Verka, Gurpreet Kangar , Kewal Dhillon Sunder Sham Arora etc inducted into BJP, rather than his own Punjab Lok Congress. BJP got shot in the arm with Capt’s this move. ” said Gurjit Singh, a political analysisit.
He further added that with Capt’s this move, for the first time BJP was able to field 65 candidates in Punjab 2022 assembly elections and Kewal Singh Dhillon as party candidate for Sangrur parliamentary elections on party symbol. Which means, BJP has reached inside Punjab”
Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had roped in prominent Sikh faces to turn its electoral fortunes in Punjab. It is a tactic to counter any pushback for the losses suffered by the BJP during the farmers’ agitation.
