Women take charge of Shaheedi Jor Mel, Fatehgarh Sahib

This year the annual shaheedi Jor Mel at Fatehgarh sahib is witnessing the women empowerment in civil, police, religious, education field.
At present, in the civil DC, ADC, DSSO, DPO, CDPO’s, Naib Tehsildar are women officers who have taken the responsibility to manage the Jor Mel, smoothly. From Police department SSP is also a women officer incharge of security. Bibi Jagir Kaur, President Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) holds the reins of religious affair. Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal , Director Education SGPC, is also a woman , who is incharge of all the educational institutes of SGPC.
Women officers, who occupy key posts in the district administration Deputy Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Kondal , ADC (G) Anuprita Johal along with other women officers has got the opportunity to serve humanity at the Annual Shaheedi Jor Mel at Fatehgarh Sahib.
Gill, Kondal , Johal along with a team of officers have done all the planning of security, traffic, crowd management, drinking water facilities, washroom and other basic amenities for lakhs of devotees during the annual congregation at the shaheedi Jor Mel of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh, Sahibzada Fateh Singh and Mata Gujar Kaur Ji at Gurudwara Fatehgarh sahib.
For the last many days, they were in the field constantly monitoring the arrangements in the pandemic days. These officers are assisted by other officers, including women officers, posted in the district. There was an uphill challenge to ensure strict adherence to protocols during the massive congregation here.
Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh sahib is under the control of SGPC, that is headed by a woman president Bibi Jagir Kaur. The annual Jor Mel starts from Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib and concludes at Gurudwara Jyoti Sarup sahib.
Dr Tejinder kaur Dhaliwal, woman director of SGPC, Directorate of Education , which control the educational institutes run by SGPC, is going to organize an Istri Conference, during this year at the Jor Mel. Earlier, they used to orgainse many events , in which all the educational institutes participated. But due to Covid restrictions, the Directorate is not holding any events, this year.
The district has many women officers who are heading their respective department areas , like Amloh Naib Tehsildar Gurpreet kaur, District Social Security Officer (DSSO) Jobandeep kaur, District Programme Officer (DPO) Sumandeep Kaur, all four blocks (Sirhind, bassi-Pathana, Khamanno, khera) CDPO’s, Zila Parishad Chairperson Mandip Kaur, DSP crime against women and children Manjot kaur , all helped the district administration in organizing the Annual Congregation.
