Three out of four people with Diabetes live in middle and low income countries.Diabetes is the fastest growing disease in India where more than 72 million cases were noted in 2017 and this number is expected to almost double to 134 million in 2025. Lack of awareness about the disease and its complications, delayed diagnosis, myths surrounding diabetes management and irregular treatment makes detection and management of this disease extremely difficult with physically inactive and sedentary lifestyle being the main reasons in the surge of this modern epidemic in India.
