World University celebrated World Physiotherapy day

On the occassion of World Physiotherapy Day the department of Physiotherapy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a continuing medical education (CME) programme dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This CME was entitled “Assessment and Management of Shoulder Pain” with special emphasis on physiotherapy and its surgical management. In this CME, Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University shared his valuable views on the need of Physiotherapy in management of shoulder pain.
The Convener of the CME programme Dr. Tejbir Singh, HOD, Dept of Physiotherapy and Dean Faculty of Medicine and Organizing Secretary, Dr. Pankajpreet Singh Incharge, Dept of Physiotherapy, shared their views on the technical aspects of the topic. Distinguished Resource person for CME programme was Dr. Sanjeev Mahajan, Director Joint Replacement, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana who explained in detail the surgical management of painful shoulder and importance of Physiotherapy in rehabilitation post operatively. Dr. Satish Sharma, Chief Physiotherapist, GMC Sector 32, Chandigarh, another resource person for CME programme, explained in detail the physiotherapy management of shoulder pain in various conditions. Guest of honour, Dr. Som Gupta, Chief Physiotherapist, Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana and Dr Supreet Bindra, Asst Professor, Dept of physiotherapy put a light on the various aspects of assessment of painful shoulder. Dr. Navroop Kaur, Dr. Gunpreet Kaur, Dr Ajay Kumar and other staff members of the department of Physiotherapy were present on the occasion. Students of the department of physiotherapy had a great exposure and they learnt a lot from the CME programme.
