World University celebrates Physiotherapy Day

World Physiotherapy Day was celebrated by the Department of Physiotherapy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khaira, Vice-chancellor of the university, was the Chief Guest. Dr. Som Gupta, Head, Department of Physiotherapy of Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana was Guest of Honour. The workshop on the topic of Kinesiotaping was organized by Dr. Upendra Goswami, PGI’s Senior Physiotherapist. Dr. Pritpal Singh, Registrar of the university was the convener of the workshop and Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, In-charge, Department of Physiotherapy was workshop co-ordinator.

On this occasion, after inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khaira, the Vice Chancellor said that physiotherapy is of paramount importance in today’s age. With Physiotherapy one can easily get rid of even old pain. Dr. Upendra Goswami during his address said that if we continue to have treatment for joint pains and other pain through physiotherapy, then one can be rid of medicines for these diseases. Dr. Som Gupta delivered the lecture on the topic of “How can we get rid of legs pain, arms pain, knees pain, neck pain, and back pain through physiotherapy?” Around 100 students and faculty members of the department attended this workshop.

Furthermore, Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, In-charge of Department of Physiotherapy reported that that the department is providing daily OPD to 70-80 patients for free. For the treatment people come from nearby as well as from far away areas of Punjab like Sangrur, Patiala, Barnala, Bathinda, Mohali, and Fatehgarh Sahib. Apart from this, Dr. Supreet Bindra, Dr. Karanjit Singh, Dr. Prabhdeep Kaur, and Dr. Navroop Kaur from department of Physiotherapy were also present during the workshop.
