World University Inaugurates National Conference on Science, Engineering and Technology for a Sustainable Future (SETSF-2026)

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU), Fatehgarh Sahib, today inaugurated the two-day National Conference on “Science, Engineering and Technology for a Sustainable Future” (SETSF-2026) in hybrid mode, attracting enthusiastic participation from academicians, researchers, and students from institutions across India.

The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor, who emphasized the university’s steadfast commitment to promoting high-impact research and innovative ideas that contribute to meaningful societal advancement. Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean of Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address, underscoring the critical importance of interdisciplinary research and sustainable technological innovations in addressing pressing global challenges.

He also extended warm appreciation to the dedicated organizing committee for their tireless efforts. As part of the inaugural ceremony, the CD of Abstracts — compiling the papers to be presented throughout the conference — was also released.

The organizing committee includes Conveners Dr. Rupinder Kaur and Dr. Richa Brar, along with Organizing Secretaries Dr. Preet Kaur, Dr. Brehmit Kaur, Dr. Rahul Badru, Dr. Charankamal Sekhon, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Dhillon, Dr. Sheenam Malhotra, Dr. Rupinderpal Singh, and Dr. Navdeep Kaur.

A major highlight of the day was the insightful keynote address by Dr. Vishwajeet Mehandia, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering and Centre of Research for Energy and Decarbonization (CREED), IIT Ropar. He highlighted the indispensable role of advanced materials, clean energy technologies, and decarbonization strategies in achieving long-term environmental and societal sustainability.

The conference then proceeded into vtechnical sessions across diverse disciplines: the Mathematics session chaired by Prof. Sukhjit Singh Dhaliwal (former Professor, SLIET Longowal), the Computer Science session chaired by Prof. Dhavleesh Rattan (University College of Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala), and the Biotechnology and Food Processing Technology session chaired by Prof. Balwinder Singh Sooch (Punjabi University, Patiala).

Each session commenced with an expert lead lecture, followed by research paper presentations and engaging scholarly discussions.

The session concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Rupinder Kaur, who expressed deep gratitude to the distinguished speakers, university leadership, organizing team members, and all participants for their invaluable contributions to the event’s success. This national conference promises rich, collaborative dialogue and forward-thinking ideas to advance sustainable solutions for a greener and more resilient future.
