World University Organised Mega Event ‘Vaisakh-2019’

Department of Computer Science of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organised vaisakhi fair on large scale. Dr. Sarpreet Singh, Dean Students’ Welfare and Incharge of the Department said that the motive of this fair is to create awareness amongst youth about their rich cultural heritage and religious values. During this fair, eighteen events including academic and cultural competitions were organised.
Tuban tying competition along with oral Gurbani rectitation competition were also organised to aware the youngsters about their cultural roots. During these events 800 students from 28 different departments of the University participated with full exuberance. The programme was made colourful with cultural stalls to instill the ideas of Punjabi culture amongst youth. The articles of typical Punjabi village were beautifully displayed.
While presiding the inaugural ceremony of the programme, Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor said that it is mandate of the University to provide value based knowledge to the students by organising such events from time to time. At this moment, rich tributes were paid to the great martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre that occurred 100 years ago, by observing two minutes silence . On this occasion, Dr. RK Sharma, Dean Research, Dr. SS Jolly, Dean Faculty and all the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science were also present.
