World University organised Webinar to commemorate 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special webinar dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Sri  Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with the use of online technology. The theme of the webinar was  ‘Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s Jeevan, Bani and Darshan’. Presiding on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Prit Pal Singh said that the life, words and philosophy of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is a beacon for the whole world and we should all make efforts to adopt the teachings of Guru Sahib in our lives. While emphasizing on the need and importance of online communication techniques in today’s changing circumstances, he also thanked the guests and scholars who were a part of the webinar. He added that webinars on various topics are being organized by various departments of the University in the coming months, information for which is continuously being uploaded on the University Facebook page ‘https://www.facebook.com/sggswu.edu.in/’.

The chief speakers in this webinar were Dr. Paramvir Singh, Department of Sikh Encyclopedia, Punjabi University, Patiala., Dr. Sarabjinder Singh, Department of Guru Granth Sahib Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala and Prof. Dharam Singh, (Retd.) . Dr. Paramvir Singh said that there  was an urgent need to make the world aware of the life and martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He gave a detailed account of the life of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, his preaching’s, journeys and the importance of guidance given to human life from the Banis of Guru Sahib. Dr. Dharam Singh said that such research centers should be set up in the Universities where a comprehensive study of the life, words and message of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji could be done. He said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji has made a very important contribution to world peace and harmony which should be brought to the notice of the world through research and study. Dr. Hardev Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Religious Studies moderated the webinar. Apart from faculty members and researchers from various educational institutions, Heads of various departments of the University, teachers and students also participated in the webinar.
