World University organized an extension lecture on Plastic Free India

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a special lecture in collaboration with Municipal Committee, Fatehgarh Sahib, entitled ‘A Step towards Swachhata’ under the campaign launched by Government of India to deal with the problems of cleanliness across the country. Dr. Naresh Kumar, Assistant Director, Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company, shared that this campaign is especially designed to educate people about the importance of sanitation and plastic free surroundings. He deliberated specifically upon solid waste management, plastic free India, swachh sarvekshan 2020 and role of citizens for the same. He emphasized on segregation of dry and wet garbage for easy disposal of the same.
In his presidential remarks Vice Chancellor Dr. Prit Pal Singh, said that our country is producing tons of waste everyday by one or other way, so it’s our responsibility to dispose off the waste properly. He shared that the University campus is spread over 150 acres of land and with the support of staff members and the students we have started converting waste to compost, to be used for the plantation drives. The necessary infrastructure required for the same has already been raised in the campus. On this occasion, staff members from Municipal Committee, Fatehgarh Sahib, University authorities, senior faculty and staff members along with the students from different departments were present. Dr. Pratap Singh, In-Charge, Construction Wing presented vote of thanks at the end of event.
