YPS, Patiala : Celebrating 75 years of glorious journey

The foundation day celebrations begin at YPS, Patiala with great zest and zeal today, Tuesday, 31st January, 2023. The event was graced by the presence of the Raja Randhir Singh, Interim President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Malvinder Singh, Chairman, YPS, Rani Hari Priya Kaur, YPS Board of Governors, Amarjot Singh Gill, IPS(Retd.) , Aman Kaur Gill, YPS, Director, Maj Gen B S Grewal, VSM (Retd.), AYOSA executives, Naininder Singh Dhillon, Adish Bajaj, Dr. Mona Gurkiran Grewal, and Dr. Aaeeyna Sood. The Old students, YPS staff, and the students also attended the events.
Day 1 celebrations included AYOSA Author’s meet and a theatre presentation of play’AMMI’. The details are as follows:
AYOSA Author’s Meet
The events started with an Author’s Meet. This was first of its kind event where five eminent OY authors namely Mandeep Singh Rai, Neelkamal Puri, Roopinder Singh, Simrita Sarao Dhir and Harnihal Singh Sidhu had an interactive book review session with the present Yadavindrians. They discussed their best-selling books, ‘ In the Shadows of the Pines’, The Patiala Quartet, Sikhs, The Rainbow Acres and Burning Bright. The session was co-conducted by the members of The Book Lovers Retreat, Patiala. The authors shared their life and school experiences, the inspirations behind their books and also encouraged children to indulge themselves in literary activities.
Maj Gen B S Grewal, VSM(Retd.) presented souvenirs to all the esteemed author guests.
STAGE PLAY ‘AMMI’
The book review session was followed by a famous play ’AMMI’ which was a theatre presentation staged by iconic Indian Punjabi film and television actress Madam Nirmal Rishi, Old Yadavindrians, and the faculty of YPS. The play’s cast included Nirmal Rishi, Manpal Tiwana, Dr. Mona Gurkiran Kaur, Dr. Uadypreet Sidhu, Neetu Chopra, Prof Sukhpal Singh, Dr. Sabreena, Surbhi, Sivinder Bajaj and Angad Tiwana. The play was directed by Manpal Tiwana and written by Nirmal Rishi and Neena Tiwana. The story revolved around the sad reality of today’s times about how some children abandon their parents at old age. The idea was to spread the message about the value of AMMI (mother) and old parents in a child’s life and that one should always respect them.

YPS, Patiala is at the threshold of completing glorious 75 years in the field of education. All these events are part of many other events which have been planned for the next few days to commemorate YPS@75.
