Yuva Samwad at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University: Fostering Youth Engagement and Enlightenment

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib witnessed an inspiring convergence of around three hundred NSS volunteers at the Yuva Samwad event.
Organized with great fervor and enthusiasm, the event served as a platform for youth engagement, enlightenment, and empowerment. Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs of the University greeted the guests and participants. Prof. Billing, in his address, expressed his concerns regarding the contemporary challenges faced by today’s youth. He highlighted the prevalent issue of aimlessness among the youth, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a sense of purpose and direction in life.
Dr. Harneet Billing, the program coordinator, share the objectives of Yuva Samwad, and the essence of ‘Panch Pran’ and the visionary initiative ‘India@2047’. The event also celebrated the remarkable achievements of NSS volunteers, exemplified by the outstanding contribution of Sharandeep Singh. Dr. Sarabjeet Singh Renuka, an eminent visionary and social worker, and Professor at Punjab Agriculture University provided invaluable insights on the purpose of life, ways of learning, and drawing inspiration from Guru Granth Sahib.
Prof (Dr.) Pritpal Singh, the Vice-Chancellor of the University in his address urged the attendees to embrace the virtues of righteousness, truthfulness, peace, love, and non-violence in their personal and professional lives. In his address, Prof Singh took a moment to congratulate the NSS volunteers for their unwavering dedication and exemplary service to the community. He praised their commitment to social welfare and encouraged them to continue their noble efforts, serving as beacons of hope and catalysts for positive change.
Technical session was conducted by Dr. Sikander Singh, Dean of Student Welfare of the University. He delved deep into the rich tapestry of India’s cultural, social, and ethical heritage. Thirty selected NSS volunteers shared their views on the theme, during the technical session. Vishal Nain, Sukhleen Kaur and Sukhvir Kaur were adjudged the best speakers.

Prof. Jasvir Kaur Chahal, Professor, Department of Education deliberated on the lingering impact of colonialism on societal perceptions and mindset. She challenged the audience to critically examine and overcome the deeply ingrained colonial mindsets, emphasizing the importance of reclaiming cultural identities and embracing self-confidence. Dr. Tejbir Singh, Registrar of the university, appreciated the NSS volunteers for their unwavering dedication and selfless contribution to the community.
