Punjab Police ADGP AS Rai, IPS, heading Special investigation team (SIT) team along with Hoshiarpur SSP Sandeep Malik and SAS Nagar SP Manpreet Singh in Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath assault case said that “a phone number75083 00342, was issued by the SIT on March 31 for information related to the case, and it has received 25 calls. However, no evidence was presented through these calls, only opinions.”
Divulging further ADGP Rai said the “ SIT has divided its investigation work amongst themselves. We have prepared the timeline. We will work accordingly.”
Rai added that “the SIT has recorded statements of six police officials posted at the Civil Lines police station, Patiala.
The Patiala police booked the 12 accused cops under Sections 109, 310, 155(2), 117(2), 126(2) and 351(2) of the BNS. One of the inspectors was booked under Sections 299 and 191 of the BNS on Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath’s complaint.
During their last visit two days ago, the SIT visited the crime spot near a dhaba outside Rajindra Hospital, Patiala and issued a phone number for public, eye-witnesses.
On meeting with the aggrieved complainant family, Rai said “ we are investigating the whole incident on the FIR lodged by Col. Pushpinder Singh Bath. The FIR is their statement. Our area of investigation is to timeline the whole incident, record the statement of accused, police officials, eye witnesses, gather the technical details like mobile location, CCTV footage etc.”

On the other hand, Jaswinder Kaur Bath, the wife and Guertej Singh Dhillon, brother-in-law of Colonel Bath said “We have cleared our stand to the Punjab Government that we will not settle for anything other than an independent or a CBI probe and transfer of Patiala SSP Nanak Singh. We will not join SIT as there is no point in expecting justice from the SIT.”
