33 persons arrested & 29 cases registered during 12 CASO against Street Crime: SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana

Under the instructions of Director General of Police Punjab Gaurav Yadav, 33 accused have been arrested and 29 cases registered during 12 Cordon And Search Operations (CASO) against Street Crime so far.
Disclosing more information with the media in this regard, SSP Rupnagar, Gulneet Singh Khurana said on the occasion of the ongoing operation at Sadabarat that Rupnagar police have registered 126 cases under NDPS Act against the accused involved in the illegal drug trade during January 1, 2024 to 30 September and 180 accused have been arrested.
He said that 80 grams heroin, 1.9 kg opium, 23 kg of poppy husk, 941 pills/capsules, 229 injections, 2.5 kg of drug powder, 68 kg of ganja, 1.4 kg of cannabis and drug money of Rs. 1,27,550 have been seized from the accused.
Gulneet Singh Khurana said that persons involved in Commercial Quantity cases/Habitual offenders have been identified and action is being taken against them.
He added that regarding the attachment of case properties, 03 proposals of 68-F NDPS Act have been sent to New Delhi, all are confirmed.
Sharing the facts about the action being taken to deal with the drug trade strategically, the SSP said that patrolling has been increased in every police station area at night by reviewing sensitive places. Along with this, meetings have been conducted with the market associations to appoint watchmen .
Senior Police Captain Rupnagar has appealed to the general public and said that cooperation should be given at every level to the Punjab Police to end the menace of drugs. He said that if anyone has any information about drug traffickers, inform the police, the name of the informer will be kept confidential.
