According to a recent research conducted at the Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala, 38 new records of wood-rotting fungi have been described from India. The research has been done by researcher Elu Ram under the guidance of  Dr. Avneet Pal Singh to identify different species of corticioid and poroid fungi associated with wood in the area under Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

Researcher Elu Ram said that during this research, after surveying different places in the relevant area, they visited there different times.  260 samples of different species of fungi were collected from various places.
