The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of five advocates for appointment as judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Advocates who were recommended for appointment as Judges of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana by the then Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues had recommended the elevation of the five advocates on April 21 .
The Collegium comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Sanjiv Khanna recommended the names of following advocates:
(i) Shri Harmeet Singh Grewal,
(ii) Shri Deepinder Singh Nalwa,
(iii) Shri Sumeet Goel,
(iv) Smt Sudeepti Sharma, and
(v) Ms Kirti Singh.
Their inter se seniority be fixed as per the existing practice.
Chief Ministers and the Governors of Punjab and Haryana subsequently concurred with the recommendation, the Collegium said in the resolution dated October 17.
