Inaugural Session of 37th National Convention of Computer Engineers and National Seminar on “Applications of AI & Machine Learning” under the Aegis of Computer Engineering Division Board in association with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab) and Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh was held on 22-23 November, 2024 in the premises of the Institution of Engineers (India), Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre, Madhya Marg, Sector 19-A, Chandigarh.

Prof. (Dr.) T.S. Kamal, Former Vice-President IEI was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural Ceremony. Er. S.S. Mundi FIE, Vice-President IEI, Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Chairman CPDB IEI,  Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra FIE, Chairman, Pb. & Chd. State Centre, Er. Karnail Singh, Honorary Secretary and Dr. Jatinder Singh Saini, Convener graced the occasion with their presence.

The event started with Prof. (Dr.) Baljit Singh Khehra FIE, Chairman, Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre extending a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and lighting the lamp. He motivated the participants to have a fruitful Convention.

Dr. Jatinder Singh Saini, Head CSE Deptt., BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab) and Convener of the Convention apprised the participants about the topic “Applications of AI & Machine Learning” and extended a warm welcome to all the participants and wished them to have enlightening sessions by the most resourceful persons in the fields.

Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) T.S. Kamal, in his address thanked and congratulated the organizers for organizing such informative sessions and providing a platform to people for sharing their research knowledge and experiences in the field. He appreciated the organizers and congratulated the participants for selecting such platforms for sharing their knowledge.

Er. S.S. Mundi, Vice-President IEI in his address stated that such Conventions provide platforms for interactive learning and also provide opportunities for collaboration.

Dr. Amit Kumar Das, Chairman CPDB IEI chaired the Inaugural session and addressed the gathering with their motivational views.

Three Eminent Engineers Personalities were also awarded during Inaugural Session namely Dr. Parminder Singh, FIE, Professor, Dept of Computer Science & Engineering, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, Punjab, Dr. K L Shunmuganathan, FIE, Dean and Professor, Dept of Information Technology Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Thandalam, Chennai, Dr. Raman Maini, Professor (Computer Engg.), Punjabi University, Patiala.

Er. Bhupinder Singh Mavi, Director of Engineering, LSPedia USA was felicitated with “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD” during the Inaugural Session.

Two Young Engineers were also awarded namely Dr. (Ms) Aakanksha Sharaff, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering National Institute of Technology Raipur Chhattisgarh, Dr. Siddarth Asokan, Research Software Development Engineer, Microsoft Research Laboratory, Bengaluru

M.S. Ramanujan Memorial Lecture was delivered by Er. Bhupinder Singh Mavi, Director of Engineering, LSPedia USA and State-of-Art Lecture was delivered by Dr. Raman Maini, Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala.

Er. Karnail Singh, Honorary Secretary, present vote of thanks to all the participants.

The Convention was attended by about 150 Engineers, Students, Research Scholars and Guests from all over India.
