‘Maha Parinirvana Diwas’: Cheema, Arora pay tributes to architect of the Indian Constitution; lauded Dr. Ambedkar’s vision

Punjab Finance and Planning Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Minister for Employment Generation, New and Renewable Energy Sources, Governance Reforms, and Grievance Redressal, Aman Arora, who is also the State President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), paid homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, on his Maha Parinirvana Diwas.They visited Dr. Ambedkar’s memorial at Patiala Gate in Nabha to honor his contributions to social and economic justice.
Addressing the gathering, both leaders lauded Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, emphasizing how he empowered marginalized communities by embedding their rights in the Constitution. They urged everyone to follow his ideals to build an equitable society.
Speaking to the media, Harpal Singh Cheema and Aman Arora strongly criticized the central government, accusing it of attempting to erode constitutional freedoms. “Using Haryana Police to block farmers from reaching Delhi is an insult to the democratic rights bestowed by Dr. Ambedkar,” they said, condemning the central government’s actions as undemocratic and oppressive.
Aman Arora reiterated the legitimacy of farmers’ demands and called on the central government to immediately initiate a dialogue to resolve their demands and grievances. He stated, “Farmers are an integral part of this nation. Their issues, which lie within the purview of the central government, must be addressed without delay. Preventing their peaceful struggle is unconstitutional and unacceptable.”
Responding to a query about the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal, Aman Arora termed it unfortunate but assured that Punjab’s law and order is secure under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s leadership. “No mischievous element will be allowed to disrupt the peace. The government will ensure that anyone attempting to destabilize Punjab is dealt with firmly and strong hands,” he said.
On Punjab’s economic progress, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the government’s achievements, including reducing borrowing rates and acquiring a private thermal power plant. “Punjab’s economic condition is robust, and under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, the state has fulfilled four out of five guarantees promised to the people. The fifth guarantee will also be met soon,” he said. Cheema also noted that Punjab has attracted industrial investments worth rupees 2.5 lakh crore, signaling a positive environment for growth and development.
The event was also attended by District Planning Committee Chairman Jassi Sohianwala, SDM Dr. Ismat Vijay Singh, and other dignitaries.
