Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and Nagar Panchayats of Devigarh, Bhadson, and Nabha, conducted a joint inspection drive to curb the sale of single-use plastics, plastic carry bags, and the banned “China dor” (Chinese kite string).
The inspection team comprised Municipal Corporation Health Officer Dr. Navinder, Sanitary Inspectors Mohit Jindal, Randhir Singh, Vikas Chaudhary, and Pankaj Kumar, along with PPCB SDOs Dharamvir Singh and Mohit Singla, and Junior Engineer Harmanjeet Singh.
During the drive, the team seized a total of 35 kilograms of single-use plastics and carry bags—20 kilograms from Patiala, 10 kilograms from Devigarh, and 5 kilograms from Bhadson. Furthermore, 25 challans were issued to violators.
Environmental Engineer Gurkaran Singh highlighted that the District Magistrate of Patiala had already issued orders under Section 163 to prohibit the storage and sale of “China dor.”
The Punjab Pollution Control Board urged the public to support efforts in creating a pollution-free environment by avoiding the use of single-use plastics. The board also warned that strict action would be taken against violators.
