In a bizarre incident Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an intruder, who barged into his Mumbai home in the early hours of January 16.
As per reports, the incident took place around 2.30 am on Thursday morning as an intruder sneaked into Saif Ali Khan’s house while he was sleeping. Later a scuffle broke out between the actor and the intruder after he attempted to barge in, confirmed the police. But the intruder able to stabbed Saif Ali Khan six times and fled the crime scene.
As per Indian Express report, “the intruder who entered Saif Ali Khan’s 12th floor apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra was locked by the family in one of the rooms but he managed to flee, the police said on Thursday, hours after the actor was attacked at his home. A senior police officer said that they suspect the accused may have used the building shaft to enter the flat as he was not spotted in the CCTV cameras in the two lifts or the lobby. The building has two entrances; while the main entrance has two security guards the second has one. The security wall for the second entrance is not high and a net installed there has a tear, leading the police to suspect that this is how the accused entered the building. The police also suspect it may be the job of an insider who was aware that the net was torn. The police suspect that after gaining entry and using the shaft, the intruder entered the house from the servant’s quarter at the back. He then argued with a nanny and later attacked Saif when he intervened, the police believe.”
The actor’s team released a statement confirming the incident. “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” said Saif’s team.
“Saif sustained 6 injuries, 2 are minor, 2 intermediate and 2 deep injuries. One of the injuries is on the back which is close to spine. A neurosurgeon is involved in the surgery,” said Lilavati Hospital’s COO Dr. Uttamani.
The actor is currently undergoing a surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital. is out of danger now, the hospital staff confirmed.
Speaking to media, Forensic department officer said, “We have collected the fingerprints from the spot, rest our senior officer will brief.”

After questioning all the housekeepers and staff at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence, the police suspect that the attacker appears to be someone familiar to one of the housekeepers working there.
An FIR against the intruder has been lodged at the Bandra Police Station.
