University School of Law Hosts Debate Competition on National Girl Child Day at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The University School of Law at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a debate competition to mark National Girl Child Day. The event aimed to highlight the significance of gender equality, the rights of girl children, and their empowerment in society.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal emphasized the importance of National Girl Child Day, which is observed annually to advocate for the rights, education, and well-being of girls across India. She noted that the initiative, launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, plays a crucial role in combating gender-based discrimination, child marriage, and female foeticide.

The debate witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who engaged in insightful discussions on various issues concerning girl child empowerment. The event was actively coordinated by Dr. Navneet Kaur, Jyotsna Sindhi, and Harpinder Kaur, who ensured a stimulating and thought-provoking session.

Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal pal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University, commended the organizers and participants, highlighting the importance of such competitions in fostering analytical thinking and awareness. He remarked that discussions on gender equality and the rights of girl children play a crucial role in shaping a more inclusive and progressive society.
